Madagascar rosewood guitar set, backs are 9 wide at lower bout, 22 long, sanded to about 0.150 thick. The sides are 33.4 long, 4.9 to 4.1 wide, sanded at about 0.105thick. A few saw marks still present. A true dalberiga, mad rose is blessed with some of the longest fibers of any wood, and some believe this is the secret to its legendary taptone. brown/ smoky colors, well quartered mad rose like this is perfect for tone and stability. PLEASE NOTE: I am listing this as “Needing Help” as there are defects that will need repair attention. These are most obviously seen at the bottom of the sides in the photos. There are voids and cracks here. My opinion is that the lines of defects on these pieces all represent places that are structurally suspicious. I have drawn blue chalk along lines connecting them in some of the photos. For this reason, I would only build with this set as “doubled” sides- that is thinning these further and laminating over another species. I would also add some further reinforcement to the backs along the lines shown in some of the photos. Why do I think this? There are “scars” on this tree that appear in a more or less straight line. I suspect the tree was injured at some time(such as a lightning strike) and grew over this injury. These sides were cut from the same plank as the backs, the sides from the narrower portion above the backs, and this line of scars ran up the board in a straight line. I have also uploaded a video today and you can see near the end of the video I “open” the crack near the bottom of the left side plate to illustrate. This is very beautiful, well quartersawn, lovely colored(pictured dry), but will require extra work and attention. Quartersawn mad rose like this is impossible to find and this is worth the extra effort. Being a true dalberigia this wood is wonderfully fragrant when sanded. photographed dry Nice clean set that will become only rarer. Dry and ready to build after acclimating to your shop. From an old billet(7+ years), recently resawn. Very stable. True dalbergia with a nice ringing taptone. Lots of pics, very beautiful..Edges have not been jointed. GTT Tonewoods facebook I will not ship this out of the US. You will receive exactly the pictured set. I will be glad to answer any questions about this piece. Priced reduced due to problems above .
